On Saturday 27 March 2027, Masters of Hardcore returns to the Brabanthallen in Den Bosch, this time under the name The Masterplan. One day, indoors, multiple areas – and a venue that gets seriously warm after the first hour.

That last part is what catches most people out. Outside it is still cold in late March, so everyone dresses for the journey there. Then you spend hours dancing among thousands of others, and suddenly that beautiful heavy tracksuit becomes a problem. Here is how to avoid that without compromising on how you look.

The short version

• Go for breathable fabric. A thick acetate tracksuit becomes hard work indoors after two hours.
• A shirt with track pants often works better here than a full tracksuit.
• It is a long day. You will walk back and forth between areas, so choose your shoes accordingly.
• Still bring a jacket. Late March is cold outside, especially late at night.
• Every edition has its own theme. Plenty of visitors match their colours to it.
• Order in good time. Two weeks ahead, so you can still exchange if the size is off.

Why this event is different from the rest

Masters of Hardcore stands apart in two ways that directly affect what you wear.

It is indoors, but it is big. The Brabanthallen consist of several halls with different areas, and you will move between them all day. That is not a five-metre stroll. You are on your feet far longer than at an event with a single room, and you feel it in your legs.

Every edition has its own name and artwork. 2027 is The Masterplan; earlier editions were called Temple of Resonance and Time Heist, among others. That theme is more than marketing: it sets the colours and the mood of the whole day, and part of the crowd deliberately matches their outfit to it. You do not have to – but it is worth knowing that it happens.

The honest question: tracksuit or not?

We sell tracksuits, so you probably expect a recommendation here. For this particular event, though, it is more nuanced.

A tracksuit made of acetate – the fabric the best-looking Australian suits are made from – barely breathes. Outdoors that is no problem and even pleasant, but in a packed hall where you dance for hours, it is. You can take the jacket off, of course, but you are still wearing bottoms that trap heat.

Two alternatives that tend to work better here:

• A shirt with track pants. A T-shirt from 100% Hardcore or Australian with a loose pair of track pants. You look just as good and you will last the whole day.
• A lighter tracksuit. Not every suit is acetate. A version in a thinner, breathable fabric gives you the same silhouette without the heat.

Still want to wear your acetate suit – and that is a perfectly good call, because it simply looks the best – then wear a shirt underneath that you are happy to show. That way you can tie the jacket around your waist halfway through the day without your whole outfit falling apart.

The rest of the outfit

The shoes

More important at this event than at any other. You stand and walk for a full day on a hard hall floor, with no chance to sit down on the grass the way you can at an outdoor festival. A pair of Nike Air Max is the classic answer, but the model matters far less than one rule: wear shoes you have already broken in.

Buying new shoes for the day? Order them at least two weeks ahead and wear them a few times first. That saves you blisters, and it gives you time to exchange them if the size is wrong.

Good socks are not a minor detail either. On a long day on your feet they make more difference than the shoe itself.

The jacket

Late March is mild during the day but still cold late at night. You only need your jacket for getting there and back, so it goes straight to the cloakroom. A bomber jacket is ideal for this: warm enough for outside and it takes up little space.

Coming with a group? Agree in advance where you will meet at the cloakroom. At the end of the night, everyone queues at once.

The accessories

A hip bag is more practical than anything else on a day with this much moving around: your hands stay free and your things stay with you. Do check the venue rules for the permitted bag size, though – these vary by venue and by edition.

Beyond that: a cap against the light and the heat, and earplugs. That last one is not fashion advice, but after a day of hardcore you will be glad you brought them.

What it costs: three ways to approach it

Entry level

An original shirt from 100% Hardcore or Australian, combined with track pants you already own. For a warm indoor event this is not the cheap option – it is often simply the best one.

Complete

A tracksuit with a shirt underneath, so you can switch halfway through the day. This is where most visitors land, and a good suit lasts for years.

Statement

An Australian tracksuit from the archive or limited edition line. Small production run, instantly recognisable to anyone who knows. Do pay attention to the fabric with this type of suit – see above.

Practical: a long day indoors

The temperature climbs. Thousands of people in an enclosed hall, hour after hour. Dress for the room, not for the street. Everything you need for outside gets handed in.

You are on your feet longer than you think. With several areas spread across the complex, you walk back and forth all day. That makes shoes and socks the most important decision in your outfit.

Drink water. Warm hall, plenty of dancing, long day. It is the most predictable reason people drop out halfway through.

Getting there. Den Bosch is roughly an hour by train from Amsterdam and easy to reach from the German border, and the Brabanthallen are close to the station. Plan your journey home in advance – a hardcore day finishes late, and that is not the moment to start working out timetables.

Six mistakes you can spare yourself

• A thick acetate suit with nothing underneath. You will not be able to take the jacket off – and you will want to.
• New shoes on the day itself. On a day this long, blisters are guaranteed.
• Dressing for the outside temperature. Indoors it is warm. Your jacket has exactly one job: getting you to the door.
• Thin socks. An underrated detail, and on a hard floor you feel the difference within two hours.
• Everything in your pockets. Jumping and full pockets do not mix. Bring a hip bag.
• Ordering in the final week. If it does not fit, there is no time left to exchange it.

For the gabberinas

For this event there is one thing to add: pick something you will be comfortable in for a full day. A crop top or fitted shirt under a track jacket gives you room to adapt once the hall warms up. And pay attention to your shoes – at an indoor event of this length there is nowhere to sit down for a minute.
